Korean Music Wave 2011 hits Singapore’s shores

For all you kpop fans out there! this is for you!

The most anticipated K-Pop concert of the year saw a strong attendance last Friday

It might have been a rainy night, but the rain did not once dampen the spirits and passion of fans, who turned up for one of the biggest K-Pop event of the year.

Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the one-night only Korean Music Wave 2011 not only featured 10 bands, but also had Kevin (from U-KISS) and Min (from miss A) as emcees of the night.
"Are you ready for the hottest K-Pop stars?" Kevin and Min teased at the beginning of the concert. The crowd screamed enthusiastically in reply, as the lights dimmed.

First to perform was Korean rock quintet F.T. Island, who had everyone on their feet, as they opened the concert with 'Love Love Love'. Minutes later, the band had everyone singing along to their latest hits 'Hello Hello', 'Bing Bing Bing' and 'I Hope'.

Following F.T. Island's heart-thumping performances were rookie groups TOUCH, Dal★Shabet and X-5; each performed a total of three songs.

TOUCH wowed the audience with their LED bulbs-decorated jackets and vests while performing 'Rockin' the Club'. Dal★Shabet had fans singing along during 'Supa Dupa Diva' and X-5 had the loudest cheers from concert-goers. They might be K-Pop newbies, but these three groups proved their worth through their strong performances and engaging interaction with the crowd.

The Boss, decked in light blue and white -- with one spotting a cutesy doll sewed onto his jacket -- charmed the audience with a bubblegum pop tune 'Admiring Boy', while Teen Top crooned to the ballad 'Angel'.

miss A then took the stage, performing 'Breathe', 'Love Again', 'Blankly' and 'Bad Girl, Good Girl'. Seven-member U-KISS first got everyone going with 'Round and Round', before singing three other songs.
Eight groups down, and only two more to go. The magic of the night had only just begun.

Raising the roof -- literally, we think -- was the fiercest girl group 2NE1. It might have been their first time in Singapore, but these girls gave a top-notch performance and had everyone jumping out of their seats the moment their debut song 'Fire' came on.
Like a huge karaoke session, the fans sang to every one of their songs, including 'Lonely', as well as their latest singles 'I'm the Best' and 'Can't Nobody'. We even spotted fans dancing to their routine during the girls' last song of the night, 'I Don't Care'.

If the screams for 2NE1 were loud, the cheers and roars for Big Bang were deafening.
The group brought the house down with 'Tonight', followed by a solo performances from Seungri and Taeyang. Dynamic duo GD&TOP then took stage, turning the stadium into one big club, with everyone grooving to their songs like 'Knock Out', 'Oh Yeah' and 'High High'.

Big Bang then reunited on stage, ending the concert with 'Love Song'. But was that enough for the fans? Apparently not.

The four men returned to stage -- after rounds of screams from fervent fans - for an encore and performed the final song of the night, 'Hands Up'.
